Located in central Edinburgh, the castle is a magnificent site, and you are free to explore this historical landmark. Your experience also includes Champagne afternoon tea at the Edinburgh Carlton Hotel. This elegant hotel occupies a landmark late Victorian building (which was originally a hospital) in the heart of Edinburgh. The lobby makes for an impressive welcome and its sweeping staircase leads to the bar and restaurant area. Your afternoon tea includes rich butter scones served with clotted cream and fruit preserves, homemade finger sandwiches, a selection of teas or filter coffee and a glass of Champagne.

By air
The nearest airport is BAA Edinburgh.

By rail
Waverley Station is the main railway station in the Scottish capital. The station is located on the east end of Princes Street and is serviced by most major rail transport providers. The Castle is visible and accessible from its exits.  From Princes Street, travel up Waverley Bridge, The Mound, Mound Place, Ramsay Lane to arrive at the Castle esplanade.

Haymarket Station is situated on the west end of Princes Street.

By bus
There is an express bus service from the airport - Airlink 100 - to Edinburgh city centre. The service runs every 10 minutes at peak times in the day and every 30 minutes at night. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes and terminates at Waverly Bridge, near to the main railway station.

By car
Parking is unavailable at the castle. The nearest city parking zones are located at Castle Terrace and Johnston Terrace.

Edinburgh Castle is open:

9.30am - 6.00pm (last entry 5.15pm) 7 days a week 1st April - 30th September
9.30am - 5.00pm (last entry 4.15pm) 7 days a week 1st October - 31st March

The Champagne Afternoon Tea can be taken between 3pm and 5pm, please specify your preferred time when booking.
